Who says you need to be a tech success story?

SaaS: Realities vs Fantasies

Unpopular opinion: Today's software services (or SaaS) are like one-trick ponies (but hey, at least they're good at that one trick!).

Sure, you could join the startup race, but unless you're early and willing to live on coffee and dreams, it's a tough gig.

A Different Path

Hot take: Maybe you don't need to be a tech hotshot at all. Hear me out - I think we're heading for a world where everyone's a bit of a coder (even if it's low-code).

The Future is for the Generalist

Imagine a future where everyone around you is effortlessly creating their own digital worlds. Your neighbour's running a complex AI model from their smartphone, the kid next door just launched her third app, and the local gym owner is debating with you that Nextjs is better than Astro (boo!).

And folks like me? We'll be there to help (no, this isn't a sneaky sales pitch, I promise!).

If my 11-year-old daughter's any indication, the next couple of decades are gonna be a blast. You'll be adapting to new tech like it's second nature, keeping pace with each innovation.

I'm betting on a future of tech generalists - people with a broad understanding of various technologies, able to connect the dots and innovate across different areas. We'll handle the everyday tech magic, leaving the really hard stuff to specialist, or scientists (not the “data” version).

The Naysayers and the Future

I know some tech purists might be raising their eyebrows right now. But hey, if this seems far-fetched, we'll probably both be too old to care when it happens anyway.

Kinda funny, and sad at the same time. Still exciting though! 😅

What's Next?

Speaking of exciting, my daughter and I are diving into our summer game dev camp. Time to level up our skills with Godot Engine!

Anyway, you can roast me on X if you want!

The link should be around here… where did I put it?🤔
